Smith Island Tornado Damage - Recovery and Cleanup

Donation protected
On Thursday, August 4, a devastating waterspout came ashore on Smith Island as a tornado, damaging and destroying homes and businesses in Ewell and Rhodes Point. Please consider donating to help the community members as they rebuild.

100% of the funds raised through this page will be distributed to the individuals and businesses on Smith Island by Smith Island United - the island's 501(c)(3) advocacy organization. Smith Island United is currently forming a committee that will be composed of community members. The committee will meet soon to determine how the funds will be distributed to those in need.

Note: Jay Fleming - the organizer and the creator of this GoFundMe page - is a member of Smith Island United and has been part of the Smith Island community for more than a decade through his photography of the island and its residents. Jay's motivation in creating this page is to help the islanders during this difficult time.
