Smith Family Bar Exam

Hello everyone. My name is Cameron Smith. I am a recent law school graduate and am preparing to take the February 2019 bar exam.
As anyone who has taken it before will tell you, the Bar Exam is a grueling experience, and preparing for it is a full time job. It is also very expensive. Just to sit for the Bar Exam and take a prep course for it, I'm going to have to come up with about $2,200.00. That doesn't include my rent, utilities, or any other basic living expenses. Dept. of Education student loans, unfortunately, don't cover the Bar Exam prep course, so I am pretty much on my own to come up with the money for that.
My beautiful wife Stephanie and I have two children Daegan and Gemma. Over 3 years ago we began this journey of law school and the bar exam together. It has been a challenging but rewarding experience. It began when I decided to do law school early on in my undergraduate education. After applying all over the country, I was fortunate enough to be accepted to law school down here in Florida. So, with a great deal of faith, my family moved to Gulfport from Salt Lake City Utah and into a house we hadn't even seen before. This was all with the hope that being a lawyer would bring the security and support I would need to take care of my family.
I will never forget the anxiety of that first semester. Grades only come out at the end and so for the entirety of those first 5 months every student is wondering if they belong. I will never forget when that first grade was posted, and I scored a 4.0 that I knew that I did belong, that I had made the right decision. I knew that this was indeed the path to caring for my family.
Now it's simply "sealing the deal" by passing the bar exam.
Through my education and connections, I have been fortunate enough to do a lot of good. I am an active volunteer at my church and community. I also was able to work at a firm helping veterans get their benefits from the VA. After passing this bar exam, the biggest blessing will be continuing to serve others.
I am starting this fundraiser not for myself, but for my family. Please help me bring this home for them, and the countless people I will be able to serve by passing the bar.
