Smiley Riley’s super send off!!

Over the years, people have suggested I do a fundraiser for a holiday, for a therapy dog, for an electric wheelchair etc etc. it might sound harsh when I say that I saved this moment for now… why?. Because funerals are stupidly expensive. We didn’t save for this. We spent all our money on LIVING whilst we had him. And making Rileys days filled with whatever he wanted (even if it was a £20 fire alarm that we’d never wire up. He wanted it. So he got it ‍♀️). I always knew that memories were all we would be left with. So we made them whilst he was here.

riley was (I HATE using past tense. I guess that’s part of the agonising process) but Riley was AMAZING, STRONG,FUNNY,CHEEKY, and even with his ultra rare pontocerebellar hypoplasia type1B he was the SMARTEST person we knew. He defeated the odds from day dot and certainly was our 1 in quadrillion.

sadly, the cardiac arrest. The 20 minutes with no o2 or a natural heartbeat was too much for that brain of his. He didn’t have to be that ‘miracle’ that ‘talk of the ward’ the ‘star of the hospital’ anymore. He needed to do what was best for him. And he chose eternal rest . And we are so proud of him for that. It’s hurts. It always will.

So to my people’s. Or to anyone who just so happens to be reading this…..i know times are tough. Especially these days. But please if you could spare a little so that I/we can give RILEY the BEST send off (with every added extra in the world possible) then we would be very grateful.
