Smiles for Scoliosis

Donation protected
I have set up “Smiles for Scoliosis” following my spinal fusion surgery to correct severe scoliosis. Scoliosis is a spinal deformity that causes the spine to curve and twist. If the curve reaches over 45 degrees, surgery is needed to stop progression of the curvature and potential damage to the heart and lungs.

Recovery from Scoliosis surgery is challenging both physically and mentally and involves learning to sit, stand and walk again. Surgery is normally carried out on children and adolescents aged 12-19. As you can imagine, this is a difficult time for the children as well as their families. Therefore, I have decided to set up 'Smiles for Scoliosis', with the aim being to put together care packages for children who are recovering from spinal fusion surgery in the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (where I had my surgery in October 2018). I know that in times like these, having a little bundle of gifts and thoughtful products really helps lift the spirits of both the patients and their families.

To be able to purchase products for these bundles, I need donations and I will be extremely grateful for every penny contributed to this cause!

Thank you for helping spread “Smiles for Scoliosis”!
