Prayers and Smiles for Abrianna

Donation protected
Abriana is the 2 1/2 years old daughter of Jennifer and Jason Crumrine.  Around the end of September into October; Jennifer noticed that Abriana was sweating more than normal and had not gained any weight for about a year. At this time Jennifer waited to see if the symptoms would go away. This was partially because they didn’t have insurance. Jason had been laid off from work so their budget was tight as well.  Jason eventually got a job, but they still did not have insurance due to the 90 waiting period.

Like any parent Jennifer had already been doing research and found an article about Neuroblastoma. On Monday December 29th 2014 Jennifer took Abriana to the doctor where they ran tests to check for hyperthyroidism and diabetes. The results came back showing that neither of these were the problem. Dr. Crook set up an appointment for Abriana to have an ultrasound done. But before this could be done, Jennifer and Jason would have to set up a pay agreement with the office, because Abrianna did not have insurance.

On Friday morning, January 2, 2015 Jennifer and Abriana went in for the ultrasound. The ultrasound showed what appeared to be a tumor. Abriana was admitted to the hospital for further testing. The next done was a CT scan, which confirmed what the ultrasound had shown. There was a tumor on the blood vessels going from her kidney to her intestines.  The tumor cannot just be removed.

On the morning of Monday January 5 2015, Abriana will be having a biopsy of the tumor, biopsy of bone marrow, and a MIBG scan done. The doctors are positive that it is neuroblastoma, but the final diagnosis cannot be done until after the results fo these tests are back, which will determine the stage and final diagnosis and the type of chemo therapy Abriana will need. Abriana will also be getting a Hickman on Monday, which is how she will get her chemo therapy treatment.

Abriana will have to spend a lot of time at the hospital, which means that Jennifer will do what any mother would do and is going to have to put her job on hold in order to take care of her baby girl.  We are hoping to help raise money to help the family with medical expenses for Abriana and to help cover household expenses due to Jennifer not being able to work.
