Respected Brother/Sister, As-salāmu ʿAlaykum:
We're reaching out to solicit your support for an important undertaking for Muslims in the Kansas City region, particularly those living in north-central Johnson County. They have been meeting at the Lenexa Community Center since 2001 to offer Juma’h prayers. With a sizeable Muslim population residing in this area and non-existence of any masjid close by, many people were unable to offer daily salat, and attend Taraweeh prayers during Ramadan at the two masajid in the County. To find a solution, interested Muslims formed a group that met regularly during 2009-10 to fulfill this need. The effort led to establishment of the Shawnee Mission Islamic Education Center (SMIEC), a non-profit religious organization. It was registered in the State of Kansas in February, 2010, and received IRS approval as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit religious organization in May, 2011. Please see the attached brochure for our services and accomplishments.
We have been looking for a suitable building for some time, and have finally found a church in Merriam, Johnson County, Kansas. We have signed a contract and need $400,000 for purchase and renovation of the building. Acquisition of this property would enable SMIEC to organize the five daily and Juma’h prayers, weekend children academy, Ramadan activities, expand the ESL (English as Second Language) class, besides other programs for youths and adults; along with organizing lectures by noted Islamic scholars and experts in other fields. To make it happen we have to raise $400,000 and are turning to dedicated Muslims like you for support. Please donate generously for this noble cause to help sustain and carry the message of Islam forward, InShaAllah!
