Rich's medical fund

Uncle Rich's story all started on July 17th, 2017, he was taking one of his normal morning walks around 9:00 am. While out he had an apparent seizure, and fell onto the street, hitting his head and laying there on the ground until one of his neighbors came home, called 911 and helped him through the seizure. He was taken to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, where he was assessed for his injuries. They determined he had a severe concussion, a fracture behind his left ear and 3 fractures in the thoracic spine in discs 6, 7, and 8. He was measured immediately for a “turtle shell” and had several CT scans performed over the next few days.

When he was assessed again on the morning of July 23rd, the doctors noticed that he was unable to move his left side.  A CT scan was performed and showed he had a severe brain bleed on the right side of the brain.  Immediate surgery was performed that day, but unfortunately, he hasn’t recovered. Two days later, he had a tracheotomy performed and a feeding tube was put in.

Since August 7th, he has been at Select Specialty Care Hospital in McKeesport, a facility that specializes in traumatic brain injuries. He slowly has been opening his eyes and moving some extremities. He still has a long road ahead of him and the medical bills are piling up.
