A Recent Science Night before school closures began. 

Mad Science of Maine is a small, woman owned, business located in South Portland,  Maine.  We have been delivering science enrichment to children in Preschools through Grade 5 for 20 years.  The viability of our business is dependent upon after school programming, summer camps, and birthday parties.  We have an office staff of less than 5 employees and during most seasons we employ about 15 part time educators.

We know COVID-19 pandemic has impacted people, families, and businesses across the globe.  School closures related to COVID-19, have led us to temporarily close the Mad Science "Lab" doors, simultaneously halting any science enrichment that we have delivered in Southern Maine and parts of New Hampshire.  Right now, our biggest concerns are not just our staff and students, but our parent partners with children who are learning from home.  We know this expectation is next to impossible to do without help.  Your donation will allow us to send science kits, like the one pictured above, to area children, as they learn from home.  Parents can apply on our website for science kits and we will send them a package in the mail for their young scientist.  Additionally, your donation will allow for an instructor to do a series of digital experiments and connect with local students via our streaming platform.

Although our operations have ceased, we are finding new ways to connect with our communities, while serving children from families that may need a little extra support, during this time.  With our current lack of registrations and inability to deliver our programming, we can't do this alone, we need your help!  Our winter session came to an early end, our vacation camps were cancelled, our spring sessions are either cancelled or being held remotely, and with the unknowns of the summer camp season,  we are looking at a substantial monetary loss that will greatly impact our business, staff, and students.  This is why we are asking for your support.  As schools reopen and parents resume their work, we want to be around to continue to deliver hands on science to our partner school districts and families.  Please help us make that a reality!
