Pieta House Fundraiser (WSPD)

Every year on the 10th of September, World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) is marked as a global day to raise awareness and understanding about suicide prevention. Sadly, suicide has devastating and profound impacts on lives across the World. However, World Suicide Prevention Day gives all individuals, businesses, and organisations the opportunity to raise awareness, reduce the stigma around suicide, make a more compassionate society and make a difference to someone in their darkest moments.

As this is a very testing time for everyone, we want to try and give back to an organisation which is very close to many individuals. To mark World Suicide Prevention Day we want to raise as much money as possible for Pieta House, a National service who provide free therapy to those engaging in self-harm, suicidal thoughts or those bereaved by suicide. Over the last year, Pieta House’s fundraising has been impacted sorely by Covid-19’s restrictions. More than 80% of Pieta funding derives from the public and is used for counselling, courses, bereavement services and freephone helpline to name a few. Evidently, the funds raised will have a significant impact on the lives of those who are struggling and those who have been impacted by suicide.
