Hello everyone! I am a 2nd Year Forensic Psychology students studying in the UK. In the late summer, I will be travelling to Sri Lanka to carry out a voluntary 5 week placement. Within these weeks, I will be working along side professionals in schools, psychiatric hospitals and residential care homes; I believe it to be a wonderful opportunity to volunteer in a developing country where there are deficits in care for those with mental health concern and other specific needs. The aim is to spread awareness of mental health, promote overall well being and increase confidence & self worth.
So, who am I?

I have very strong interests in Psychology, Astrology and Mental Health. Due to having previous experience as a Health Care Assistant, I’ve had the opportunity to work with both young people and the elderly in encouraging positive mental health and a better quality of life. It’s a joy to bring positivity and laughter to every conversation. I believe I’m great for this placement as I know I will bring a unique flair and perspective that will hopefully encourage our Sri Lankan family to become their best versions. I’m passionate about mental health; as well as dealing with it myself, I have friends and family who struggle daily. It is important to let others know that they’re valued and are worthy of love and support; reminding people of their power as a soul living a human experience is essential to healing and spiritual growth.
Any donations made will be collected in order to cover the Placement Fee (inclusive of Accommodation, meals, support, training, trips & talks and transport). Additionally, donations will cover cost of flights, visa and travel insurance, DBS or equivalent and the necessary vaccinations prior to travel. Funding is needed as soon as possible as this opportunity must be paid for more than 2 months in advance; this amount of money is much harder to come by at such short notice.
