SLO SCOTERS 2024 FUNDRAISER

The San Luis Obispo Scoters are a National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) high school and junior high composite team made up of student-athletes in grades 6-12 from schools in San Luis Obispo County.

Our goal is to provide a fun, safe, and high-quality mountain bike experience for all athletes. Founded in 2018, last year's team had 32 student-athletes and 21 dedicated volunteer coaches. As we gear up for the sixth season of Scoters we are raising support for up to 50 co-ed students and 30 coaches.

This year we hope to accomplish the following goals with your support:

I – Bring adventure and fun into our season –Adventure that results in youth development, mountain bike skills education, and outdoor education. Fun that results in building friendships for life and creating experiences that keep our student-athletes wanting to come back every year.

II – Coach Training & Safety First – Increase our coaching staff from 10 to 20 and focus on growing the number of female coaches first.

III – Trail Maintenance Program – Working with Central Coast Concerned Mountain Bikers (3CMB) we will create and maintain a sustainable trail maintenance program to educate each student-athlete on the basics of trail maintenance. In addition, we will host a trail work day and identify and train 2 coaches to become certified 3CMB Trail Maintenance Crew Leaders.

IV – Expand the Program – Build infrastructure and Team Leadership so we can get more kids on bikes in both North and South County.

V – Recruit more female riders – Design and implement a Scoters GRiT (Girls Riding Together) program in alignment with the NorCal NICA GRiT guidelines.

VI– Underprivileged Youth – work to break down the barriers to entry into mountain biking (cost of equipment & transportation to trailheads).

A gift of $1500 can:

~Train up to 4 new coaches at Level 2 (CPR + Wilderness First Aid + Coach 101

~Cover 4 scholarships for underprivileged riders

~Purchase a new loaner bike for an underprivileged rider

~Send 3 coaches to the NICA Leadership Summit

~Buy race day infrastructure (shade canopies, bike racks, coolers, first aid kits)

A gift of $1,000 can:

~Train 4 coaches with CPR + Wilderness First Aid

~Outfit a used loaner bike for an underprivileged rider

~Send 2 coaches to NICA Leadership Summit

~Register & refresh our donated trailer (new tires, spare tire, weatherproofing, logo, etc.)

A gift of $500 can:

~Purchase team race supplies for the season (snacks, coolers, bike wash station)

~Train one coach at Level 2

~Cover a scholarships for an underprivileged rider

~Send 1 coach to the NICA Leadership Summit

~Purchase a Shade canopy

~Purchase coach first aid kits.
