Sleeping Places for ALL Refugees

Schlafplatzorga arranges sleeping places for refugees and migrants in Berlin since 2014, long before this last crisis.
Right now, we are in need of two things: Sleeping places that we can mediate, both short- and long-term, and money to support with rent costs and public transport.

 

We are thrilled by how many people are currently acting in solidarity in response to the war in U kraine. Within a few days, stable networks have been built. It is very impressive and inspiring.

 

However, our joy at this spontaneous solidarity movement is clouded by the hypocrisy of European governments. States, parties, companies and official media call for solidarity while they pursue or contribute to a racist exclusionary policy. This policy wants to welcome only certain refugees.

We want to stand against these double-standards and strenghten the beautiful support impulse that we see now happening. Let’s fight together against this and make solidarity our everyday practice, now and in future! Let’s create a long-term and unconditional solidary process – a process in which we support each other and nobody is forgotten or left behind.

 

Thousands of sleeping places have been unblocked in just a few days during the last months, but most of them are not accessible to non-U krainian populations.

At the moment there are not enough offers and many people who come to us searching for a place have to sleep on the street or in emergency shelters. These shelters are often very stressful and people have to leave early in the morning.  Additionally, some shelters have already closed for spring and many more will close at the end of April.

 

For our work, we therefore need available sleeping places that we can mediate. It could be just for a few days, as a "Zwischenmiete" for one or two months, or a long-term offer.
