**Update** 10/05/19 message from Dani Sadly Slade passed away early this morning. he spent his last day surrounded by friends and family listening to us retell our favorite memories. His dad and I were by his side when he passed at home early this morning.. although I am shattered I find my comfort knowing his pain is gone and he is at peace. The world lost the most generous loving man. There was not a better friend to have your back than him.. he would help anyone, any day, any time. I have never met anyone tougher than Slade.. he was so strong and amazing throughout this whole thing and the strength he possessed while still showing so much love to his family is an amazing testament to who he was as a person. Thank you friends for being around and showing your love to slade. He deserved to be lifted up. Please give us some space as we grieve. ************ As many of you know, on Monday 07/23/18 Slade Owens went to the providence ER to get help with some major back pain he has been dealing with for a long time. After an MRI, a large mass was found on his spine that was compressing his nerves and he was rushed into emergency surgery. Since the surgery, pathology has indicated that he has High Grade Neuro-Endocrine cancer. PET scans found masses all up and down his spine, hips, femur, scapula, humerus and pelvis. On 07/26 they immediately began radiation treatment to try to hit it hard and shrink the masses as much as possible- while recovering from major back surgery, he was being treated multiple times a day with radiation therapy. He was released to go home on 08/01 with having to commute daily for the remainder of his radiation treatments. 08/07 was his last day or radiation!!! He gets one week break before they start him on Chemotherapy treatment- treatment which will consist of at least 3 days a week and the 1st dose will take at least 6 hours. Depending on the progress, he may receive more radiation as well. All of his future treatment plans may change depending on the next scans to see how things look. They are blessed with medical insurance and are receiving help where they can, but with major surgery, radiation, chemo- medical bills will add up quicker than anyone can anticipate. Slade has a lot of support from the all of their family & friends - which has been a blessing and is very much appreciated. But as many of you know, he is the sole provider of his family. His wife (Dani) who has not left his side for a moment, is being unbelievably strong during this unfortunate time. She is caring for him as well as their Beautiful little 1 year old daughter, Sydney.  We would like to ensure that medical bills and daily life expenses are the least of their worries during this time; let family focus on family. If you can spare $1 or even just share this post  -  anything would help and would be unbelievably appreciated. Any amount will ensure that Slade wont have to worry his family being taken care of while he is being treated and he can devote his energy into spending time with his wife & daughter. Lets all pray and hope for a long and healthy life together for the Owens family as the big picture is unknown- but we are being hopeful. If you have Facebook-please go to this page for Slade's updates as they happen: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2130662283877631/ We will also post updates on here as well. Once again, thank you for your support and prayers!!!
