***Skylynn Anne Nikel*** On June 17, 2017 our niece Skylynn was born with a Double Outlet Right Ventricle(DORV). Since then she has had 3 open heart surgeries and another surgery will be done tomorrow morning (March 12,2018) to place a VAD (ventricular assist device into her heart to do the work for her. The left side of her heart has completely quit working and the right side is not strong enough to support her body. The hopes of putting her on the VAD machine is to give her enough time until she can get a heart transplant. If she qualifies for the transplant list then she will be placed at the very top of of the list but unfortunately to be able to qualify for a tranplant she must meet criteria which is a 2 week process and she is not at that point yet. She will remain in the hospital on the VAD machine until she is able to qualify for a transplant.There is no set time frame on how long that could take. She has been on life support since Tuesday March 6,2018 and cannot remain on it any longer, so the only alternative is to put her on the VAD machine in hopes that a transplant will come through soon. As we all know ...When tragedy like this strikes the bills continue to pile up and as the bills are piling up there's also work that is being missed causing financial difficulties. We would love to be able to take some of the financial stress off of Kevin and Tanyas shoulders while they focus on Skylynn. Any amount that you can donate would help and if you are unable to donate please keep Skylynn and our family in your prayers.
