Hello, my name is Knoena, I’m a mum to 5 and a grandmother to 11. I work full time as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse - Health Visitor.

I am terrified of heights but I am doing a skydive to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society as dementia has affected my family personally.

I also worked for ten years with adults with dementia and saw first hand what a devastating illness this is, not just to the affected person but their family too.

Alzheimer’s Society is working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.

They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.

Alzheimer’s Society reports that 1 in 3 people born in the UK today will be diagnosed with dementia in their lifetime and Dementia is the UK's biggest health and social care crisis.

The total cost of dementia in the UK is £42 billion. It is estimated that 63% of these costs are shouldered by people with dementia and their families. The cost of dementia in the UK is set to rise to £90 billion a year by 2040 unless action is taken and this is one of the reasons I have decided to to try and raise some money for such a needed charity.

I am absolutely terrified of heights, so those close to me will know how difficult this is going to be but well worth it for a great charity.
