Sky Needs Immediate Surgery!

Donation protected
This isn't something I would have ever considered of doing; but my vet actually suggested to try it, and I have never been more desperate in my life!! We are on a time limit!

A few days ago, our cat, Sky, started showing signs that she wasn't herself. Our friendly, social, loving, super playful little peanut, started hiding, and sleeping more. She had thrown up a few times, had bathroom accidents outside of the litter box. She usually eats a ton! But, lately, she has not been eating as much. She's even turned down her treats; which is totally not like her! And she wants nothing to do with her favorite toy, which she usually goes NUTS over. I noticed when she would sit or lay down, and then get up, there were wet circles on every surface she got up from. As of a couple days ago, white mucus was left in these circles, and on her privates. I noted everything down, and called the vet.

At her visit today, they gave her an injection of some type of nausea med, that will wear off tomorrow; and another antibiotic. The vet diagnosed her with "open pyometra." Pyometra, is a uterus infection. There are two types, open and closed. Hers is Open Pyometra, because she has pus that is draining out of her vagina. Causes of this, are elevated hormones during their heat cycles. Aside from the temporary nausea meds and antibiotics, the vet said she needs to be spayed as soon as possible. Removing the uterus, is the number one cure. But, that is praying it has not spread to any other organs. And PRAYING her uterus does not burst before she gets spayed. If she does not get the spayed surgery ASAP, the Pyometra can infect her lungs and kidneys as well, thus leading to an even more expensive surgery, or death.

Sky is our BABY! She means the world to us, and we just can't picture what life would be like without her. She is only 2.5 years old; we rescued her from Alex's grandparents' farm two summers ago. Which makes her ten times more special to Alex, as his grandparents are everything to him. Sky is the SWEETEST cat EVER. And she is such a peanut, weighs no more than 4 pounds! We just can't wrap our heads around this, and the thought of losing her.. I can't even put it in my head.. :(

We are so embarrassed to even be doing this.. but we are SO desperate and with the holidays passing and COVID making finances incredibly difficult, we just simply cannot afford her surgery. Which KILLS us!! The vet estimated around $1,300 for everything: blood tests, x-rays, anesthesia's, spay surgery, etc.  (I can provide the proof if needed); but it could be higher, depending on if she will need any other tests, meds, or treatments. We are begging our friends and family, to help us get our Little Gray healthy and thriving. ANY amount helps! For anyone who does donate to Sky's surgery, we cannot thank you enough!
