A cause I care about needs help

Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money for Community Now, and any donation will help make impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.

What can you say to a child in school when she asks:

o How do I learn when I’m so lonely?

o How can I focus on school when I have so many problems at home?

o How can I stop bulling when I see you bully people every day?

o How can I change if no one is there to show me how?

o Why should I trust that my teachers care about me when they only care about my grades?

o How am I supposed to think about the future when I feel so hopeless?

Community Now helps children, educators and parents find answers to these questions and more. The mission of Community Now is to create an environment that promotes mental health in children, in schools and in the community and to advocate on behalf of programs that foster mental and physical wellness in a supportive environment. Our multi-tiered approach to mental wellness works from the inside out through programs in schools for 3rd-8th grade children and from the outside in by encouraging a supportive community environment in which children can thrive.

We are guided by a vision of a world that fosters kindness, promotes physical and mental well-being and encourages each person to be the best he/she can be.

COMMUNITY NOW: CULTIVATING RESILIENCE FOR MENTAL HEALTH

Founded in 2010 as a grassroots organization promoting campus safety, Community Now has become an important partner with the Moreno Valley Unified School District in promoting mental wellness among 3rd-8th graders. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Community Now is one of the few mental health promotion programs in the Inland Empire that focuses on elementary and middle school students.

What would you give to change the life of a child?

Schools in the Moreno Valley Unified School District and the Riverside County School District, like public schools all over the country, operate on a tight budget, preventing them from addressing the unique cultural and mental health needs of their students. Faculty, counselors and administrators lack the resources to develop comprehensive programs to identify children at risk of mental health problems and find they are often unable to do anything until it is too late to keep the child in the school system. Community Now contracts with the school districts to offer programs that supplement school services, helping to break the cycle of mental illness, violence and school failure. However, the funding we receive from the school districts covers only a portion of our operating costs. We rely on generous financial support from individuals, foundations and companies, to help cover operating costs that are essential to maintaining and expanding our programs. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Community Now looks to the community that it serves to support programs that help to change the lives of the children in this region every year.

At the present time, Community Now offers two very different programs that promote mental health, self-esteem, leadership and mental resilience:

o GET PLUGGED IN Student Leadership Program (GPI)

o Me, Myself & Mine Natural Hair Education (MMM)

Community Now makes a difference in the community. And support for Community Now has long-term impact on children, their teachers, their school, their families and their communities.

For those who seek to make the world a better place, Community Now offers an innovative and effective and way to make a positive difference.
