The Byrd House

Neisha and Cailyn Byrd have walked through a lot of loss, more loss than most of us will ever experience.  And yet they remain full of joy, hope and faith.  And they are family to everyone who knows them.

3 1/2 years ago, they lost their son/brother, Cameron, in a tragic car accident.  He was on his way back to Trinity Bible College after spending spring break with friends in Oregon.  They hit black ice...and a semi truck. Cameron died immediately. Watching Wendell, Neisha and Cailyn’s journey through that loss has been difficult but also one of faith and worship.

Three months ago, Wendell (husband/father) was diagnosed with colon cancer which spread to liver and lungs and died within three weeks.  It was so unexpected and fast.  We are all still in shock of losing our good friend, Wendell Byrd.

Two days after Wendell died, Neisha was given a 30 day notice to be out of the rental house they had lived in for nine years.  The owner decided to sell the house and wanted Neisha and Cailyn out.  I watched as Neisha prayed for her landlord and refused to allow bitterness enter her heart. Amazing.

A friend has allowed them to stay in his rental home giving them immediate relief.  

But friends and family want to buy a home for Neisha and Cailyn, a safe place where they can build a new life for themselves without Wendell and Cameron.

They are strong, joyful women, but we need to come along side them and help them with this need of housing.
