My name is Cherel Ferrell aka Sitti to most of my friends and family members. As most of my friends who will be viewing this know, I recently lost my husband Jamar, my truest friend and the Love of my Life, to his fight with H Lymphoma cancer. During his 2 year fight to stay alive, we incurred tremendous amount of debt, some of which was forgiven by credit card companies. However, I am still responsible for many joint debts in both our names. For the past few years, it has been an extremely intense struggle just trying to keep up with paying bills.
And Now……
Since my husband’s passing my health has be declining as well.
Just before he passed, I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer and was operated on, having my thyroid removed. I was placed on Synthroid medication for the rest of my life. However because I was not always able to afford the co-pay for my medications, I was braking them in half and taking it every other day. I started to lose my ability to walk due to dizziness and double vision. After falling in public, I was taken by concerned and loving friends to the Bryn Mawr Hospital ER. After deciding on the seriousness of my condition, which required numerous tests for a precise diagnosis, they kept me for ten days of observation and testing. Although not taking my daily prescribed dosage of Synthroid did have a negative effect on my body, but the attending neurologist diagnosed that it might not be the only cause of my symptoms, and that something else may be causing the double-vision and dizziness.
As a result he ordered many tests.
After 5 C-Scans, with and without contrast, 4 MRIs, blood labs, a Spinal Tap, and 3 Eye exams: on Friday Sept 22nd 2017, I was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis). I will be starting my injections of three times a week.
Most of my friends and family members that will be viewing this are aware that, due to the modesty I attempt to live by, based on my beliefs, that asking for help is very difficult for me. I like to be the one that gives and supports when I see someone in need, and strive to be self sufficient and never be a burden on friends and family.
But as my body grows weaker and my bills continue to rise, I am finding myself drowning further and further in debt.
My mom, who has helped me make ends meet as much as she could by selling food and sewing for people, also has had her own struggle with Gastric Cancer.
I can see that trying to maintain her own health while helping me is very taxing on her health as she watches me suffer.
I heard about Go-Fund-Me-Now and would like to give it a try.
