<div>Theater Alaska is presenting the world premiere of SISTERS OF WHITE CHAPEL by Annie Bartholomew from July 7-17, 2022, as part of the second Alaska Theater Festival in Juneau, AK.

<div><em>SISTERS OF WHITE CHAPEL </em>is a Victorian folk opera inspired by narratives of women during the Klondike Gold Rush in Alaska and the Yukon. Led by Juneau songwriter, Annie Bartholomew, this performance piece marries historic source material and folk music traditions, to honor the brave women that risked life and virtue seeking freedom in the far north.

<div>SISTERS OF WHITE CHAPEL features an all-female team of writer, director, designers, musicians, and actors. This includes Juneau writer/songwriter Annie Bartholomew, Alaskan musician Kat Moore, set/costume designer Deb O, and director Heidi Handelsman.

<div>Annie developed the project in the Yukon as the March 2019 Jenni House artist in residence where she woodshedded with her banjo in a timber frame log cabin. She has shared this project at the 2019 Alaska Historical Society and Alaska Museums Conference, the Alaska Folk Festival, the Alaska Musicians Summit at the Anchorage Museum, CD Baby’s DIY Musician Conference in Austin, in Montreal with the Alaska Room at Folk Alliance &amp; many more spaces and places.

<div>SISTERS OF WHITE CHAPEL will be presented at public locations including the Treadwell Mine Office Building in Douglas and Riverside Rotary Park in Juneau’s Mendenhall Valley.

<div>Funds received will be used to pay for artist salaries and fees, costumes, theater props, and for space rental for the production. All artists working on the production will be paid. 
</div>
