Fire Domestic Violence Janet Bohm Omaha, Ne

Donation protected
On February 25, 2019 in Omaha, NE, Janet & Amanda Bohm we’re hospitalized, victims of domestic violence after Janet’s estranged husband, and Amanda’s father, intentionally lit the house on fire knowing they were inside along with several pets .  Janet is in a medically induced coma with 3rd degree burns covering 60% of her body that may become more severe as they continue to burn tissue over the next several days. Janet is facing months of recovery including skin grafts, intravenous fluid and rehabilitation. Amanda is suffering 2nd degree burns.
Janet filed for a protection order months ago for Michael threatening her and Amanda. He threatened to set the house on fire and dismember Janet so that no one could identify her, only for the protection order to be dismissed the same day by a judge without even having a hearing.  She filed for divorce in December and was trying to have Michael removed from the home. When the police were called out to her home that night, they refused to take Michael into custody, ignoring her pleas for help. The legal system failed her and Amanda, and now they are suffering with burns and their house completely destroyed.
Janet has a long difficult recovery and these funds will be put towards a new start,  a safe place for Janet and her daughter to live after she is released from the hospital, as well as any hospital and extensive rehabilitation costs.
Janet and Amanda have lost everything due to this deliberate act of violence. Janet will not be able to work for a significant period of time, and she’s always been a hard-working mother trying to make ends meet by working two jobs to provide for her family.
