IMIZAMO YETHU X SISTAHOOD - Masking a Community
Donation protected
As a direct response to COVID-19, we are raising money to provide protective packs of facemasks, alcohol hand sanitisers, food parcels and for women in need in Imizamo Yethu, a township in Hout Bay, Cape Town.
In such an over crowded community, it is near impossible to self isolate and furthermore with the unprecedented lockdown has meant many households have been left unable to provide an income for themselves. This is an effort to provide essentials for safety and support vulnerable households in these unprecedented times. Mutual friends, Katrina Macpherson and Sindiso Khumalo, have collaborated with Sistahood, and other community leaders in order to address this.
What will be provided:
Face Masks: produced by Sindiso and friends
Hand Sanitisers: with special thanks to Dr Sonia Couto
Food Parcels : Sourced from Local suppliers
Distribution to the community will be headed up by Nandipha Breakfast, Founder of “Sistahood”- a non profit organisation created to nurture and empower young women in Imizamo Yethu, who lack resources and may have been victims of abuse and prostitution. They also provide support and mentorship to get young women get back on their feet and forge new paths. We are hoping to mask as many people in the community of Imizamo Yethu who work as teachers, cleaners, nannys, garderners, security guards, car guards and serve the local community at large.
What your money can do:
A £5 donation :
Includes X2 face masks, X1 hand sanitisers
A £15 donation :
Food Parcel / Food Voucher to feed a family for a week
A £20 donation :
This will give a family a combination of a protective pack as well as a food parcel.
Please note all funding raised will be used to create these protective and livelihood packs.
