A Sudden Change, Road to Recovery

Donation protected
If you have ever crossed paths with my mother, you’d know that she’s extremely driven, super funny, and the most loving soul on the face of this earth. Unfortunately, my mother experienced a sudden change this October when she was in a car accident that caused her to severely damage her eye. The accident resulted in a fractured hand, broken cheekbone in three different places, along with fracturing all the bones surrounding her eye leaving her blind in her right eye. We’re now a little over a month post-accident and still fighting with insurances and having daily meetings with the lawyers. My mother has been unable to work due to the extreme and sometimes unbearable pain. As stated earlier, she is super driven, so she has tried to push herself to work, although, it has only made matters worse. While trying to perform duties at work or home her fractured hand makes it hard to perform many tasks and the excruciating pain and headaches that come from straining the eye, damaged nerves, and tissues make it hard to focus and stay on the task due to constant use of medication. My mother describes these headaches as starting up the right side of the bridge of her nose, leading up her forehead, and wrapping around the back of her head. The doctors have advised that she give herself at least 3 months to heal and maybe even more before going back to work but this is hard to even imagine when bills are steady rolling in and no one with the funds to pay them.

Losing my father almost 15 years ago, my mother has been a single mother and dedicated her life to raising us (her four daughters). She always taught us how important it is to try and be a blessing to others, even the smallest gestures like a smile or hug could help brighten someone's day. I’m so blessed to have her because she has truly been a phenomenal role model for me and my sisters. My mother has been an entrepreneur and licensed cosmetologist and instructor of cosmetology for 23 years. Also, almost two years ago she began expanding her network and skillset into the logistics industry. My mom obtained a Class A - CDL and recently completed the courses and training to become a freight agent. In her spare time, she loves to cook, laugh, read, educate, and spend quality time with her grandson, daughters, and family. My mother is the glue that holds our family together and I’m so thankful that God saw fit to keep her alive because matters could be much worse!

We have been inundated with love and support, wondering how can we (as her children) try to make this process easier for her. Bills have accumulated and stress of how to maintain while healing has become a daily worry, we try to encourage our mother to rest so that her eye, nerves, and tissues can heal. We’ve created this fundraiser to help ensure our mother has what she needs to really take this time to heal from the trauma she has experienced. Trying to work has made her pain more difficult to manage and the stress to make ends meet is taking a toll on her overall well-being. We are facing a lot of unknowns, with possible upcoming procedures, monthly bills, and other expenses that come along with being a single mother of four girls (one graduating from HS this year). I wish I had the power to do everything for my family on my own but this experience just makes me want to be better so that my family never has to face this type of problem again. But as a family, I know that we will get through this. With all that being said, thank you for taking the time to hear our story. Even if you are unable to donate, a simple repost/share of this link could allow this to reach someone who can. These funds will provide my mom with the time she needs to rest and allow herself to heal. We are unsure of when she will be able to return to work but I feel that the recommended three months from the doctor is a start. My mom has poured her life into the community by lifting others to make them feel beautiful with her talents, wisdom, and advice. I know that others will return the favor and support her. Thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts, for any contributions and/or prayers. Your help is greatly appreciated.
