I was close to completing my rehab and almost walking unassisted with my new prosthesis. This was giving my mom a much needed break and she could start to focus on herself more. Then, in October, I got a small friction burn on my stump. Within 3 days it turned into a full blown infection, requiring more hospitalization. The infection caused the bone at the end to become exposed. This set back means 4 months without my prosthesis and requiring yet another surgery. After being released from the hospital, I had a showering accident and broke 2 toes on my remaining foot. This has required almost constant use of my wheelchair.
Then, with everything else happening, the unimaginable happened. The night before Thanksgiving, I struck a deer. My 8 year old daughter was in the car with me and I praise the Lord that we were not injured. However, my car did not escape unscathed. I now have a $1000 deductible to fix my car.
I swore I would never do this. I was always gonna be strong enough to fix my own problems, stand on my own 2 feet (pardon the pun), and not ask for help. I was always the person offering my help to others. But, pride aside, I must humble myself and seek help. I understand that this has been an unpredictable and hard year for everyone, plus Christmas is coming,. Any way that you can help is greatly appreciated.
May God bless you all.
