Single mom needs help helping herself
Hello all. At a time when I know most everyone is dealing with so much, I appreciate all who takes the time to read about my situation. (I am using edited pictures so as to avoid detection and contact from abusive individuals)
I am a single mother of 5, (ages 19, 17, 15, 12 1/2, 11) still recovering from an abusive relationship with my childrens’ father, doing my best to stay afloat in life. I was struggling with rent and bills, facing an eviction before Covid.. with courts preparing to open back up, even though it will take time for the process to be complete, I still face having to move and find a place to stay.
The pandemic has made this particularly hard, with lots of jobs closing; I’ve been doing UberEats, GrubHub, DoorDash, so I was not able to get unemployment and have just been trying to deliver as much as I can to make money; yet it’s hard to stack and save money to move, because we still have to live day to day; I try to keep up on the bills so as not to let them get too high, I pay for food when my food stamps run out, and basically every other cost of taking care of 5 kids and myself.
It’s becoming increasingly physically and mentally taxing doing this alone, trying to save money to move while also paying bills, car expenses, buying clothes and trying to do some fun stuff with the kids so they have some sense of normalcy. I don’t want a handout necessarily - but a hand, up… so I can help myself!
UPDATE: I appreciate the help I’ve gotten thus far; unfortunately, my abuser/childrens father went on a rampage, found out where we were located and threatened to kill me and my children, and is now on the run from police.. I was forced to use funds I had saved to relocate across the country; I am now in a battered women’s shelter, and am searching for housing; I have 1-2 extensions before our time here is up, so I am now asking for help towards first months rent/security deposit, any normal expenses that come with starting over. We had to leave EVERYTHING because we literally fled at night in my minivan; we’ve been living off of the help of the staff at the shelter, and donations of food from churches, clothing and coats from thrift stores. Anything helps! I am ready and determined to TAKE CONTROL OF MY LIFE and give my children a mother to be proud of. Thank you for reading.
