SINGING FOR ALL is an inclusive, dementia-friendly, informal singing group, bringing people together to enjoy songs, tea, cake and, most importantly, company. It has become a lifeline to people in the Easingwold and York communities, a safe place where everyone is welcomed, friendships blossom and spirits are lifted. All abilities, from gifted musicians to those who claim they "can't sing", enjoy the power of song, laughter,  and warm human kindness.

Throughout the challenging situation in 2020, Singing For All has continued online,  a lifeline for many regular participants who tune in to connect with others and lift their spirits in these uncertain and lonely times. However, Singing For All is now struggling and needs help to continue and to relaunch when we can once again meet up and sing together.

Caring for a loved one living with dementia brings many challenges, including the financial burden of creating a stimulating structure to each day. The opportunity to take part in Singing For All, seeing their loved one take part in something with positivity and success, while having the chance to get to know others in the same circumstances, is a breath of fresh air for carers.

" Your singing group gives us both a lift and chatting to other carers makes me feel I am not alone. Singing is so beneficial for someone who has dementia and he would not be able to go if I did not go with him."  Elizabeth Galvin

"I've found Singing For All a great help and support not only for my Dad with mixed dementia but also for me. This group gave us purpose, fun, laughter and great supportive friends." Ayse Kucukkoylu

Local charity Dementia Forward regularly refer clients to Singing For All:-

"We have clients who struggle to speak and have very limited short term memory, however, singing is an activity that people can take part in even in the later stages of dementia, as a shared activity with their loved one. Carers can often become isolated but through Singing For All, friendships have grown. Jessa manages the sessions for maximum participation and enjoyment for all. Caring for the carers is vitally important and that is why Dementia Forward fully support Singing For All."

Singing For All founder and leader Jessa Liversidge is looking for help to enable Singing For All to continue.

It is so heartening to look around the Singing For All group and see the way everyone supports and cares for each other. When we all sing together, it doesn't matter who has dementia, who is caring for a loved one, who has Parkinson's, who has recently been bereaved, who is struggling with their mental or physical health ; we all come together in song."

Anyone who donates is welcome to come and enjoy a session of Singing For All for themselves - just get in touch with Jessa to find out how. Please also get in touch if you have any questions about Singing For All.

Singing For All Easingwold recently had a visit from That's TV York, who captured the atmosphere and interviewed two of the participants.

A final message from Singing For All leader Jessa Liversidge; -

"Singing For All is such a rewarding project, seeing the benefits to such a wide range of people is wonderful, even throughout the lockdown and the temporary move to online sessions. I am so grateful to anyone who feels able to contribute to this appeal to help Singing For All continue and develop; this is definitely a case of 'every little helps'.

Please help Singing For All further by sharing this gofundme project, and do let me know if you would like to come and experience a session for yourself, or if you know of anyone who would like to come along."

A heartfelt thank you from me and all the Singing For All family."
