Sing for Recovery in Hawaii!

Thank you for visiting my GoFundMe page! My goal is to raise $4,000+ to travel to Hawaii, Sing for my recovery, and for the recovery of others affected by traumatic brain injury.
My Story
I've been accepted into an advanced vocal improvisation retreat, Mele a Hakuwale, lead by renowned singer, performance artist, and teacher Rhiannon. Many may recognize her from her work with Bobby McFerrin and Voicestra, or performing with her ensemble, Spontaneous (featuring Abraham Laboriel, Alex Acuña, Otmaro Ruiz and Jetro daSilva). Mele a Hakuwale will take place in January of 2014 on the Kona Coast of Hawaii.
Participating in this retreat will not only mean fulfilling a longstanding dream of mine, but it is also a chance to continue my healing journey after a very difficult time in my life. As many of you know, I have spent the last 7 months recovering from a traumatic brain injury. Mele a Hakuwale will provide the opportunity for me to explore the connection between performance and healing, and to rediscover my connection to my voice.
It is my belief that there is always room in our hearts and our lives to serve others, no matter what our current circumstance. In this spirit, I've decided to donate any additional funds raised past the $4,000** goal to the Outpatient Neurological Rehabilitation Center at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN, a place very close to my heart.
Cost Break Down
$2,875 Tuition, lodging and meals for 10 days
$1,125 Estimated cost of travel
*Any funds raised over $4,000 will be donated to Memorial Hospital's Outpatient Neurological Rehabilitation facility in South Bend, IN. This is where I was fortunate enough to find help, and I am forever grateful for the amazing therapists that put me on my path to recovery.
**Goal amended to $4,000 as of 9/12/2013
Time Frame
In the interest of raising as much $$ as possible, and with the intention of donating the surplus, this campaign will end on November 30, 2013. Payment in full for the retreat is due December 15, 2013.
