Simon is a community cat who my mom and I have watched over for the past 15 plus years. We wanted to bring him into our home years ago – we are indoor cat people – but he was not receptive to the idea. A few weeks ago, he didn’t come for breakfast one morning. This has never happened before, and I thought the worst. He was gone for a few days. My mom went searching around the neighborhood and found him. He was severely congested, and his eyes were swollen and crusted. I brought him to the vet, and he was given an antibiotic and prescribed eye drops. They initially helped. However, a few weeks later, his eye condition returned. They were crusted, and he started scratching and rubbing them. His eyes were leaking and there was some blood. I took him back to my vet, who recommended that I see an eye specialist. They quickly got me an emergency appointment, and he is scheduled for eye surgery this Monday. He has a corneal rupture and is getting a corneal graft, which will help expedite his healing (rather than taking the chance of letting his eye heal on its own and potentially rupture further).
I decided at this stage in life I will convince Simon to be an indoor cat. He has been indoors since we found him when he went missing. He has such a sweet personality. He has lots of purrs and is very cuddly. Any donations towards his medical expenses are greatly appreciated.
