Help Simon and Victoria Mendoza in Mexico

Hi, my name is Marjorie, and I'm fundraising for my parents-in-law Simon and Victoria Mendoza.

My husband Romualdo’s wonderful parents Simon and Victoria Mendoza are the most humble, caring and selfless couple I have ever known. Their generosity and kind hearts have always spread to whomever their lives have touched. They always welcomed everyone into their home. Anyone who has met them knows they are the type of people who will be there for them in a time of need.

On Sept. 19, 2022, a strong 7.6 magnitude earthquake hit Michoacan. Unfortunately, their home was destroyed, leaving nothing but rubble. There is nothing left standing. In addition, many of their chickens and other animals are unaccounted for. Their home and small farm were their livelihoods.

Heavy rains that followed the earthquake quickly damaged whatever may have been salvageable. The area where their home once stood is remote, and insurance is non-existent. Sadly, this is the situation for several homes in the area.

We are so thankful to God that nobody was home at the time, so at least we have not lost a loved one. However, Simon and Victoria now face the harsh and painful truth that everything they have worked so hard to build for the last 30 years with their own hands has crumbled to the ground.

I have created this GoFundMe page to help alleviate the financial burden they face to get back on their feet as soon as possible.

Hola, mi nombre es Marjorie y estoy recaudando fondos para mis suegros Simon y Victoria Mendoza.

Los maravillosos padres de mi esposo Romualdo, Simon y Victoria Mendoza, son la pareja más humilde, cariñosa y desinteresada que he conocido. Su generosidad y sus corazones amables siempre se han extendido a quienes sus vidas han tocado. Siempre dieron la bienvenida a todos en su casa. Cualquiera que los haya conocido sabe que son el tipo de personas que harían cualquier cosa por cualquier persona en un momento de necesidad.

El 19 de septiembre de 2022, un fuerte terremoto de magnitud 7.6 sacudió Michoacán. Desafortunadamente, su casa fue destruida, dejando nada más que escombros. No queda nada en pie. Además, se desconoce el paradero de muchos de sus pollos y otros animales. Su casa y pequeña granja eran su sustento.

Las fuertes lluvias que siguieron al terremoto dañaron rápidamente todo lo que pudo haber sido salvable. el área donde una vez estuvo su hogar es remota y no existe seguro. Lamentablemente, esta es la situación de muchas casas en el área que también fueron destruidas.

Estamos tan agradecidos con Dios que nadie estaba en casa en ese momento, por lo que al menos no hemos perdido a un ser querido. Sin embargo, Simon y Victoria ahora se enfrentan a la dura y dolorosa verdad de que todo lo que han construido con tanto esfuerzo durante los últimos 30 años con sus propias manos se ha derrumbado.
