Simara’s Journey

My name is Simara Rivera, I’m a 21 year old Afro-Latina trans women born in Puerto Rico and moved here when I was five with my mother. I’ve known my entire life I was different, when I was growing up my family wasn’t supportive of my sexuality or my gender expression to my transition. I got kicked out and had to leave my house and transitioned away from my family.  I’ve been lucky and grateful to have support and people who have allowed me to flourish,  but as I come into two years of my transition  07/2018 I’m personally looking to finalize my womanhood. I would need electrolysis which isn’t covered by the state of CT nor is my gender affirming surgery. I’m here currently asking for donations that would go towards electrolysis, help pay for the gender affirming surgery, and the recovery time that would be needed for me, also in addition funds to help the black trans women in front of you become the women she wants to be and help me in the journey to become financially independent.
