Dear friends/family,
I have started this fundraising page in honor of my stepmother Christine Lopez Silva. After over 6 years of courageously battling breast cancer, she sadly passed on August 13th, 2018. She is survived by a loving husband, Frank, and her three beautiful children, Jaiden, Nick, and Ava. Christine was the most caring and loving woman who fought tooth and nail to live and watch her children grow. As a testament to her strength, while going through chemo you could often find her kicking butt in boxing class or running a 5k around the neighborhood. Even towards the very end, she still found the strength to clean the house, get the kids ready for school and schedule their appointments. She was truly an amazing woman who will be so very missed.
I have seen the toll that this illness has taken on the entire Silva family and nothing hurts more than to see them have to say goodbye to their mother and wife. After thinking of ways that I could help them through this grieving process, I felt that what they needed more than anything else was some semblance of happiness and an opportunity to get away from the day to day.
With this in mind, I thought what could be a better place to get away than the Happiest Place on Earth...yes, I am talking about a surprise trip to Disneyland. To this end, I am seeking to send my dad and three siblings to Disneyland right after the Christmas holidays. Considering how tough the holidays will be this year, it would be great for them to get away and experience some joy. I know in my heart that this is what Christine would have wanted for them.
So many of you have reached out to me and asked to help and I could not think of a better way to share love and support than to help send the Silvas on a trip together. We may not be able to take the pain away but we can try to bring some happiness to their lives during this time.
