Silly's TPLO Surgery

My name is Silly (Silhouette) and I love to play ball! Me and my mom went to the park on Friday (Sept.18) night to play fetch together with my little brother to relieve some of our cabin fever and safely social distance. I went to chase my ball when my foot slipped inside a gopher hole in the grass and I twisted my leg.

When my leg twisted, I tore a ligament in my leg called the cranial cruciate ligament. This ligament helps my knee function as a hinge joint and without it, I am unable to walk or put weight on my hind leg. My mom is a college student who works full time at a bakery while also going to school. She and I do everything together but now that I am on bed rest, we can't go on our nightly walks or play together anymore.

The torn ligament in my leg is similarly comparable to a torn ACL in humans. My torn CCL causes me pain and immobility which will only be resolved through a TPLO surgery. During surgery, the surgeon cuts my tibia and repositions it at an angle that stabilizes the knee joint to a point where I can return to putting weight on my leg. The bones that are cut, rotated, and repositioned in my leg are all secured into place using special bone plates and screws.

I can't go into surgery for another 2 weeks because the doctor has a waiting period. Until then, I am on bed rest for most of the day. I can only get up to go to the bathroom and say hi to my mom when she gets home. Will you help me get better so I can go on more adventures with my mom and little brother?

[Silly's Mom]
Silly is my best friend, he is my entire world. Not only that but, he is also my emotional support dog. Without him, I don't think I would be where I am today. He gives me so much strength and seeing his goofy upside-down smile when he asks me for belly rubs never seizes to make me laugh. I adopted him from a shelter when he was 3 months old and we have been inseparable ever since. Sometimes people think he looks very intimidating because of how big he is but he's the biggest mushy baby you'll ever meet.

I work full-time and have picked up extra shifts at work just to make ends meet with the initial vet bills I've had to cover for him so far. It is also my first semester in college and online schooling is tough, not only for me but everyone going through it. Getting any sort of help to cover the surgery that Silly needs would mean everything to me. He is my universe and I don't know what I would do without him, especially if we can't do the things he loves to do. Please, any donation big or small would help us so much. Stay safe, happy & healthy.
