Sig Peter Hansen House Burns Down

Today I am writing to ask each of you for a favor. Please put yourself in the shoes of my pledge brother Peter Hansen, SDSU Delta Xi. Peter lives in Sonoma County, California and last week watched his house, car and all his most valuable things burn to the ground in the Santa Rosa fire. He awoke at 2 am, grabbed two important paintings, his keys, phone, wallet and ran. He stood back and video-taped his house and car burn to the ground.
This horrible incident could’ve happened to any of us. What makes this situation particularly dire, is that Peter has spent his life giving back to the community. Both in college at SDSU and the fraternity where he was involved in every event where funds were raised for needy charities. Peter started his professional career not unlike many of us with a goal of making lots of money in the corporate world. However, he found it unsatisfying personally, so he gave it all up, got a teaching credential and started teaching film, editing and cinematography at Sonoma High School. Each year he has to raise funds to underwrite his program, his position and the Sonoma Film Festival he helped to create. Many of his students have gone on to careers in film-making.
Peter is a minimalist -- he doesn't need a lot. He lives an incredibly happy, simple life and if he knew I was going to create this fund raising page he would ask that I not do it. He spent his days after the fire helping others who were camping out at his high school gym. However, nobody deserves help more than Peter because he has helped everyone. He truly exemplifies all that the Jordan Standard stands for – man of good character, a student of fair ability, with ambitious purposes, a congenial disposition, possessed of good morals…having a high sense of honor and a deep sense of personal responsibility.
