Help Sierra & Teresa w/rehab bills

We are extremely lucky that my mom and sister are still with us after their severe car crash, but they are both going to endure an extremely long, and unfortunately extremely expensive, recovery. The expenses of their medical care, the rehab they are just starting, and the physical therapy they will need are already adding up and so I am asking for your love, support, and financial help because we really need it.

On Tuesday, April 24th around 7:30am my mom (Teresa Christy, or Mrs. Christy as all her music students call her) and my little sister (Sierra, a junior at Tucson High School) were involved in a head-on car crash. The guy driving the vehicle that hit them was speeding, passing in a no passing construction zone, and did not have insurance (making financial matters even worse for my family). My mom and sister were immediately taken by ambulance to Banner UMC Hospital.

I have been told repeatedly by the nurses in the ICU and Trauma Center at UMC how lucky they are to have been involved in this head-on crash in a small car but still be here with us. Although there was no internal bleeding and no significant head trauma or damage, they each have several broken bones that will require a lot of rehab and many months of physical therapy.

My little sister had to be pried out of the vehicle and suffered a dislocated right hip. She had a large puncture wound in the right corner of her mouth that required three layers of stitches. Her jaw broke on the left side up high in the joint, requiring that her mouth be wired shut for several weeks, which means she can only "eat" liquids during this time. Her right hand is broken and she had surgery on her knee, hand, and mouth the day of the accident. She also cracked her L3 vertebrae which is causing Sierra a lot of pain and requires that she wear what I call a "turtle shell" for the next few months. She has been on constant pain meds and muscle relaxers due to her injuries and the extreme shock her body took during the impact.
My mom, a dedicated music teacher for about thirty years now, was driving my sister to school and herself to work when the car that would hit them head-on suddenly appeared directly in front of them. Due to being in the construction zone, there was a long line of oncoming traffic to her left and concrete barricades to her right, leaving her nowhere to escape from the suv headed straight for them. My mom suffered a broken hand, shoulder, and heel/foot which all required major surgery involving the installation of screws, plates, and wires. She also broke her nose, sternum, tailbone, and has a cracked rib. Her knee and hip required surgery also as she suffered puncture wounds and lacerations that required immediate attention.

Whether our connection is music, animals, 4H, teaching, neighbors, friends, etc I cannot express to you how much it would mean to our family to receive financial help. I know their medical bills and rehab bills are going to be a few hundred thousand dollars and I know our insurance isn't going to cover all of that. Usually our family does the helping, but in this dire situation I ask that you please help us, with the promise that we will pass it forward by sharing such kindness with others.
