Sid Turcotte Park Lost Trailer Fundraiser

Donation protected
On May 6th, 2019, the Town of Mattawa, Ontario was flooded due to the Release of the Otto Holden Dam.  Sid Turcotte Park was particularly vulnerable to the rising flood waters.

In the weeks prior to the flood, all information seemed to indicate that the river had neared its peak.  While several seasonal RVs on park were vulnerable, their was no indication that any damage would occur.

With less than 45 minutes, the already unseasonably high water levels rose 2.5 feet in just under 2 hours as a State of Emergency was declared by Mattawa's Mayor.  The mayor and town residents were caught completely by surprise.

It was possible had we had 3-4 hours notice to save the 14 RV trailers that were lost in the flood.  Many owners are now told that their insurance will not cover them for flooding despite receiving little warning of the dam release.

We at Sid Turcotte Park, while suffering devastation to our park infrastructure, are ourselves overwhelmed with grief for those that will struggle financially to replace their summer RV homes.  We are asking for donations to help those seasonal campers that lost their RVs and ease the financial burden they now face.
