​Hello, my name is Takiba Ortiz. I am a deeply family-oriented man, a proud father of four, and a writer. For my entire life, I've fought a relentless battle against Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), always working hard to protect and provide for my family as best as I'm capable.
 
​Unfortunately for me, a recent string of severe sickle cell pain crises and other SCD complications has wedged us betweena rock and a hard place.
 
​Due to the unpredictability and frequency of my episodes, my spouse inadvertently used the entirety of her allotted PTO hours, which has drastically reduced her pay and caused our household to fall dangerously behind. We are now facing severe financial strain and the very real possibility of losing our family's home.
 
​We are not looking for a handout in any way, but a temporary helping hand up to clear some of our bills that compounded from being hospitalized from cycles of my ailment.
 
​While I understand many others are also facing similar financial difficulties, it is certainly with great humility that I have decided to reach out and ask you for your consideration of assisting in this matter of family urgency. 
 
Any donation or share helps us breathe and helps to give my family the stability we need to get back on our feet, especially my spouse who had the burden of manning the ship when I'm down.
