Family is everything!

For those that feel the same, then you understand how important it is for us to keep Venah and her brother together.  Somewhere over the years, we have become our own version of 'This is Us'. 

For those of you that do not  know our story, let me share.  4 years ago we had a family member struggling and going through some personal issues.  We were given the opportunity to foster Venah.  We didn't think twice about caring for her as we wanted her to stay with family.  This eventually led to her adoption.

Shortly after Venah's adoption was finalized, we found out she would have a brother or sister.  Once again, God had a plan for us.  As we visited the little guy in the hospital,  the reality of what it was like to grow up with a sibling hit us all hard.  I couldn't imagine not having my sister; my best friend.  We didn't want to deny Venah from having that too.  In the first month,  Kingsten came to live with us it was apparent the two belonged together.  They had a bond early on.  He was comforted by being beside her.  They wanted to be next to each other.  They have spent the last 17 months building on that connection.  Even for Christmas, Venah asked Santa for games she could play with her brother.  Now you will see her watching out for him, getting things for him, hugging and kissing him.  He gets so excited when she gets home from school and hugs her immediately when she walks in the door.  I believe they were meant to be together.  We have truly come to realize the meaning of "Ohana".  

We are now moving forward with a private adoption.  We have the mother's blessing but we still have a lot of steps in the legal system .  We will have attorney fees, filing fees, home assessments,  and other various fees related to this process.    Without going into the details and for privacy reasons for those involved, we need to move rather swiftly, which is why we are asking for help.  We can't even start the process without having the money upfront. 

Anyone who knows my sister knows what a big heart she has and how hard she works.  She ensures her children are provided for and that they are very well loved.  She works 2 full time jobs and still finds time to be a wonderful mother, sister, and friend.  Normally, we would not ask friends and family for help but due to the need to move quickly and the substantial amount needed for the deposit, we are.    I know many of you have reached out to her in the past and asked if there was anything you could do to help.  If you are able to contribute anything, it would be GREATLY appreciated.
