January trip to Cambodia

As many of you know, for years I have been interested in the anti-human trafficking movement, also know as modern day slavery. Slavery exists throughout the world and takes on many forms. One prevalent form is forced prostitution work. Here in the United States this is often a woman getting caught up with a pimp. In Cambodia, where my friends Todd and Anna Morrison work with Destiny Rescue, young girls are often sold by their parents to a brothel owner. The families battle severe poverty and selling a daughter is a means to provide a little money to the family and one less mouth to feed and mind to educate (education is not completely free).

This January I will be joining a group from my church to visit Todd and Anna in Phonm Penh for a week. We will be joining with Destiny Rescue to care for these teens. Although the details are not completely worked out this may include both educational activities for the girls (work skill development is crucial for this population) and recreational times.

This trip costs a total of $2100. Would you be willing to join with Hope to send me to help these girls for a week? In the short term, we need some of that by the end of October for the deposit. But other financial deadlines approach quickly; all that you can do before the holiday season would be great.

As we go along, I'll be happy to send out updates of the trip and other ways you could support these girls. I know Hope will need your prayers while I'm away for days in January. In addition, please pray that the team will meet the needs of the girls and that God provides the whole of the $2100 I need.
