SHS Solar Rollers 2022

Donation protected
Solar Rollers provides students with an opportunity to design, build and race solar powered remote controlled race cars. Students learn physics, math, engineering, electronics, solar, and even chemistry concepts on their road to building the cars. They build them from the ground up using advanced materials such as carbon fiber, balsa wood, epoxy glue and duct tape. They research the best designs and materials and apply knowledge and skills during the building process and then get tested on them in a trial by fire on race day. Race day is actually 2 days of racing with more than 40 other teams. Summit high school has consistently produced outstanding cars and we have done this with your support. Because of your support our teams are able to focus on building the best cars and learning. Therefore we are once again asking you for your support . We have three teams wishing to compete and we have raised enough to partially fund 1 team. Each team cost around $1000 broken down in two parts the entry fee is $500 and the supplies needed to build a new car is around $500 as well. $3000 is a large sum for the kids to raise, but every donation can be put to work and gets us closer to fully funding all 3 teams. We need to begin ordering supplies as soon as possible and all money donated will be put to use right away to purchase motors, solar cells, carbon fiber sheets and other supplies the teams need immediately.
