Help Alisha Stay in College!

Earlier this year,
the owner of Shrader Cleaners, Tang Huynh, died of a sudden heart attack. He was a devoted husband and father, and ran Shrader Cleaners (Waller & Shrader streets). Tang touched us all with his open smile and positive outlook on life.

As a community, we want to help this family raise money for his daughter, Alisha, who is a Sophomore at University of California, Riverside. Alisha needed to stay home this Fall to help Maggie, her mother, run Shrader Cleaners. She wants to return to school, but needs our help to cover tuition, books and living expenses.

Alisha took introductory biology, and wants to explore medicine. Throughout high school, she was interested in science and studied biotechnology and the study behind DNA structures, running gel electrophoresis, and learning about disorders, and she also volunteered at UCSF.

There are many science and pre-med classes that she hopes to take at Riverside, ranging from organic chemistry to physics.

Tang and Maggie imparted many lessons to their daughter. Perhaps the most significant one, that Alisha thinks about every day, is that through failure one finds success. As Tang said, "Life is all about trial and error, and it’s the mistakes which make you wiser." Based on this, Alisha always thinks about experimenting, learning from failure, and keeping the right frame of mind.

Please make a gift to enable Alisha to get back to school.

What the funds are for:
Tuition ≈ $ 6,000/quarter
Groceries ≈ $200 per/month
Textbooks ≈ $550- $600 per/quarter
Living ≈ $1000 per/month

Please donate to this campaign, and share it with your friends and family on Facebook, email, Twitter, Instagram and text messaging. Each gift makes a huge difference!

This was a major tragedy for Alisha and Maggie. As a community, we want to support them and get Alisha back to school. Thanks for considering a donation!
