Cameron, 11th grade
I am the middle child of five and we are more than familiar with overcoming the hardships of everyday life. Passion is what steers me around roadblocks and intelligence is what guides me through that path. As the president and captain of a nationally competitive step team, I have learned and operate with responsibility for my peers and coaches. Moreover, I have been raised by the strongest woman alive. My mother works hard to obtain a stable home environment for her children and in return all she wants is for us to thrive. That is her deepest hope. As I am hope to my family, The Show Me Costa Rica Project is my hope for the growth of my intelligence beyond societal expectations for me.

Cordell, 11th grade
As the son of two strong, ambitious parents, I am pushed to accomplish my goal of maintaining straight A's and dream of becoming a journalist. My character reflects persistence, ambition, innovation, and determination. I am a teenager, but I am not close-minded to experiences that afford learning beyond the classroom and what the world has to offer. The Show Me Costa Rica Project is proving me the opportunity to elaborate on what I strive for, learning constantly, and exploring.

Jaliyah, 11th grade
I am the eldest of my three siblings.  As the older sibling I must take on new responsibilities, no matter how difficult they may be. While taking these roles, I am learning leadership, patience, and hope. Among these lessons I am learning something very important—self-confidence and responsibility. I love helping others come to realize who they are, what they stand for, and how to be productive in their range of abilities. This pleasure and my enthusiasm for science inspires me to be a primary care physician. Being involved in the Show Me Costa Rica Project gives me more depth within the true meaning of leadership, responsibility, and strength.

Travaughn, 11th grade
I am one brother of four exceptional gentlemen and a mirrored reflection of my loving family. I stand for ambition, adventure, and intellect. My participation in track and field has taught me to be resilient with all of the hardships life presents me. My loving and encouraging mother, who goes to great lengths to support me, is the fuel behind my success. My pursuits to enhance the diversity of my education have granted me the opportunity to study abroad with the inaugural Show Me Costa Rica Project at Riverview Gardens High School! Limitations of my future shall not exist.

Tristian, 10th grade
I am the middle child of six other siblings. Since I was five years old, I have been living with my grandmother. She has always strived to provide me with everything that I need. I believe, because of her and the way she raised me, I am who I have grown to be. Being a young African American female in this time, not many things are expected of me. I believe, I am the embodiment of excellence, focused on success.  I am full of pure potential that I have yet to understand, let alone realize. With me being involved in the Show Me Costa Rica Project, this trip will take me beyond the limits of stereotypes. It will also help me on my journey to success.
