Showcase Music School

Donation protected
We are fundraising to ensure we are able to retain our brilliant team of music teachers without whom there would be no Showcase Music School. Our Showcase Music School provision provides access to music for thousands of children across the South Coast every week. We rely heavily on the income from our fundraising concerts & holiday camps to pay our staff, to reduce costs to families and schools and
ensure that music is accessible for all.

Due to social distancing we will not be able to financially benefit from these activities for some time.

Funding would be used to:
Support our staffing costs while they are unable to lead rehearsals & lessons in person.
Ensure we can continue to provide virtual impact through the Virtual Youth Orchestra
To launch the virtual youth choir so that more children can access music without the need to play an instrument
To provide weekly online interactive videos for families to engage in music challenges & well-being activities
To support in saving our vital
service

During the Covid-19 outbreak we have launched a worldwide, free Virtual Youth Orchestra.  Thousands of young people across the World are now accessing  our virtual ensemble. In 7 weeks we have completed 11 video orchestra performances (including this one - Fight Song  )
which have brought together up to 500 children per video.

Last week we were asked by the NHS to record a tribute for International Nurse's Day - I'll Be There For You - CLICK HERE TO WATCH

In addition to our usual 62 orchestra members from Southampton we have over 1,300 new virtual members from across the UK, Europe, USA, Australia, Africa, Canada, Japan and New Zealand! Musical parts are available to all instruments for all abilities. Access to this is key, there need not be any barriers to participating.

Music is vital for the well-being & mental health of children at any time, but not least during times like these full of worry & uncertainty. Our projects, led by our music specialists enable children to access inclusive activities aimed to focus their minds in a positive direction.

We regularly find ways for our orchestra members to raise money for charity and recently we performed a concert raising over £16,000 in aid of the Royal British Legion. We use our music making  encourage a young person's development of life & social skills. We have worked tirelessly to provide opportunities which include travelling the world to perform & learn about different cultures & traditions.

Singing & playing an instrument have huge benefits for children.  Children will be missing out on the thrill of performing and our virtual videos & activities are filling that void. Families come together every Sunday to watch our latest video on social media. Children are able to meet up with grandparents on ZOOM to watch together with the buzz of spotting themselves in the video. Everyone is so proud, not least us of the overwhelming response these projects have had.

We are seeking the support of donors to aid us to continue our vital work in the local communities.

All aspects of our organisation are non-profit with every penny being recycled into new projects to ensure children & families are able to continue to benefit from what we can provide.

We would be so appreciative of any donations.  This would mean we are able to keep going as a key contributor for as long as social distancing means that children are unable to access music in person!

Changing the lives of young people is our passion and drive.  We need to come through the current crisis so that schools & families are still able to access our provision.
