Show Your Heart for Ollie

Ollie was born with Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA), Pulmonary Stenosis & a Ventricular Septal Defect (hole in the heart). He had his first life saving procedure at only 2 hours old & then was to have his repair surgery at 7 months old. His journey took a slight turn when the doctors decided his heart didn't quite look ready for his repair yet & so instead they placed a shunt in his heart to help it get strong for his surgery approximately 6 months later.

Ollie went through many ups & downs & was in & out of hospital a lot for various issues but all in all his heart was doing what it was supposed to & he looked to be on the right track for surgery.

This all changed in December of last year (2018) when his heart function suddenly decreased. He was admitted to hospital to start a new medicine to try & help this but one month on it had worsened even more. Another medication was added to the mix however we have recently found out that this also has not helped & his heart is looking worse again. Ollie has no other option now but to get a heart transplant.

Obviously this news has hit our family suddenly & like a tonne of bricks. Em, Will, Ollie & their older son Teddy will need to move to Melbourne at some point so that Ollie is able to have his transplant. At this stage we don't know exactly when that will happen. The financial & emotional strain that this has already put on their family will now be tenfold as they try to navigate this whole new world.
