Road to Recovery for Shawn Rychling

I believe it takes a village so I am reaching out to family, friends, and community on behalf of my brother, Shawn Rychling.  A few weeks ago, he received the type of news that no one wants to hear and no one can prepare for.  He went in for a colonoscopy on January 26th.  He had been having some concerns and minor symptoms and a younger brother had been diagnosed recently with pre-cancerous polyps so he decided to get a colonoscopy a little earlier than the 50 year recommendation.  Shawn was told while still in recovery at St. Francis Hospital that the doctor had found and biopsied a 5 centimeter growth and she could tell it was a cancerous tumor.  Shawn used the word "surreal" to describe what that news was like and it did take awhile for it to sink in.  He had to meet with a surgeon and get a CAT Scan.  Great news came back that the cancer does not appear to have spread.  He is scheduled for a colon re-section surgery on March 6th and following the surgery he will know more about needing any additional treatments such as Chemotherapy.  Those who know Shawn can appreciate how active he is with his two young daughters. He has coached their soccer and basketball, shuttled them between multiple activities, and spends as much time as he can with them. Shawn is more concerned that they are not affected by this.  Additionally, Shawn is a proud Alumnus of Syracuse University and active member of Bethany Lutheran Church in West Hartford.   Prayers and positive thoughts are needed so that Shawn can hopefully make a speedy and full recovery.   In addition to having a $5,000 medical insurance deductible, Shawn will be out of work for about a month.  I am reaching out to raise enough money to help Shawn cover the cost of his deductible and time off from work.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
