Show and Tell-An HRFS Final Film

Donation protected

Show and Tell is a comedic short film about Eileen, a young hapless substitute teacher, caught up in the choices she’s made so far in her life who, after one afternoon with a new class of kids learns that it might not be too late for her to change her path.

This is a final thesis film at The Harold Ramis Film School  at The Second City in Chicago. A one-year intensive film program that is the first film school in the country to focus solely on comedic filmmaking. This final film functions as a compilation of all of the things that I have learned in my time at HRFS.

Filming!

Our set dates of filming are April 7th and April 8th. It is our hope that we will have all of the funds necessary by April 2nd!

Where your money will be going!

This film is being produced completely independently. With most of the films budget coming out of pocket and primarily from Crowdfunding. Any and all donations will be going towards the following:

Securing locations!
As it turns out, when you write a film that takes place in a classroom you have to find a classroom to film it in! We’ve been granted rooms at a nearby private school that’s kind enough to let us film in there space. Donations will be used to accommodate the school’s required rental fee!

Food!
This one is a biggie! We’re filming for two very full days with a crew of ten, a lead actress, fifteen child actors, as well their parents! We want to ensure that we provide people that are so kind to donate their time and talents...and children with filling and healthy meals! This where most of the film’s budget will be going towards.

Those are the two big ones! Any additional costs that we gain will be spent on putting the film in the festival circuit as well as additional props and set dressing.

A Note From The Director

I’ve always seen movies as a huge tool for creating empathy. You get to sit down for an hour-and half to two hours... or in this case, eight minutes and watch a story unfold in front of you that you never thought you needed to hear until it’s over. Movies give us a reason to share a collective laugh with each other that you can’t get anywhere else.

With “Show and Tell” I feel there is an opportunity to create a story where people of all genders, ages, and races can identify with the feelings and emotions that come with trying to find your place in the world when you can’t even find your car keys.

Any donation of any amount would be hugely appreciated. Thank you for being apart of the exciting process that is movie making!
