WHAT IS SHOPPING ANGELS AUS?
Shopping Angels AUS is a free no-contact grocery delivery service helping those in isolation due to COVID-19 by matching them with a volunteer 'angel' in their neighbourhood. The community program was founded in March 2020 as a response to the coronavirus pandemic. We currently have ~800 volunteers helping those in need across Australia.
As the virus spreads in Australia, seniors and those with health conditions are among the most vulnerable to the worst outcomes of the virus. Our volunteers are working to:
- Prevent at-risk populations from needing to shop for groceries.
- Help small pharmacies deliver medications to their at-risk clients.
- Provide services when big-chain food stores are unable to deliver orders.
- Reduce anxiety of at-risk populations worried about groceries.
- Reduce the burden on disability carers who are unable to shop for all of their clients.
- Connect Australians in remote areas to volunteer support.
WHY DO WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT?
Shopping Angels AUS is a not-for-profit run entirely by volunteers who give up their time to support the community. However, we have a small set of operating costs that are unavoidable. We urgently need $10,000 to continue operating and supporting our community.
