SHOL Winter Season Care-Packages

Sisters Of Light or SHOL, for short, was initially a group set up by law students, now alumni of London South Bank University, who recognised their passion for the need to give back to society by the means of fundraising.

Established in 2014, SHOL has actively taken part in a number of fundraising projects for the past several years including the Ebola Epidemic Fundraiser alongside the LSBU Law Society, which won us the award of 'Best Volunteering Society' of that year. Having worked and fund-raised with the likes of Great Ormend Street Hospital, Red-Cross and Mind, SHOL has had great opportunities to make long-term contributions towards different charitable causes, including our members taking part in Legal Walks as well as providing free legal advice on a voluntary basis in legal advice clinics.

As a means to branch out on our own, SHOL, this year, intends to create care packages for 250 homeless people in East London on 22nd December 2018, starting at 12 pm - 7 pm. The location will be available shortly! The care packages will include some food, clothing items such as gloves, hats and scarves, and some essential toiletries including sanitary pads to sustain individuals throughout this winter season. The funds raised for this initiative to provide what we believe are basic necessities have been raised through our latest fundraiser back in 2016, where we managed to raise approximately £200 by holding a bake sale.

Studies placed a short hiatus on our intentions to execute our project at the time, but now that all of our members have successfully graduated, we are in a better position to initiate this great charitable cause. Organisations like us often face financial hindrances, so we are reaching out to you for financial support for what we truly believe to be a important cause.

With your help and donations, our organisation will be able to support a large number of homeless women and men. We also look to ask individuals to donate hats, gloves and scarves that are in good condition but may not be used to include in the care packages to give out to these individuals in need. Your small donation today can help make a big difference in their lives, particularly at a time of festivities.
