Most of us take for granted our wonderful school system, having public transit and being driven to school daily. In many countries, however, children walk 1-2 hours a day to and from open air classrooms with no walls and little to no resources. They do this with BIG smiles on their faces and the willingness to learn and be taught. Now imagine how big their smiles will be and how much more productive they will be, if they had the luxury of having a classroom with walls, notebooks to write in, pencils that aren't broken, and a chalkboard to share.
TO MY SUPPORTIVE FAMILY AND FRIENDS,
On April 15th, 2018 I will embark on a life changing journey to Tanzania, Africa with my awesome fellow teacher candidates from York University, in partnership with the 'We Leadership Program' and the Toronto Catholic District School Board where I will devote my time teaching at local schools, building classrooms (from scratch yes!), volunteering in local villages and helping in concrete ways to improve the community. It will also be an eye opening opportunity, which I am so humbled to be a part of, to interact with children and youth in Tanzania who's lives I will be touching during my short period of time there.
This is my passion and I would love for everyone to share this experience with me by turning this dream into reality!

The delivery of this program is in conjunction with We Charity. Co-founded by Marc and Craig Kielburger, We (Free The Children) has earned worldwide recognition for its dedication in eradicating child labour throughout the world. One of its programs, entitled Me to We, is devoted to youth leadership and has established program sites around the world.
