Shoes for Nathan Hale Basketball

Dear neighbors, friends, family and colleagues,
We come to you to ask for a small donation for students at Nathan Hale High School. It has come to our attention that the sports teams there are in desperate need of uniforms. In many cases, teams don't have any of the necessary uniforms at all. With budget cuts, lack of booster clubs and no PTA the students and athletic department simply can't afford to meet this most basic need.
The girls basketball team is one of the teams needing immediate help. They have 9 very old and ragged jerseys, but yet there are 20 girls on the team. At their first game many girls couldn't suit up, because they didn't have the necessary attire. Hearing about this, some generous donations from the community have already come in. This is a HUGE blessing! We collected enough to purchase jerseys, shorts and a training shirt but we still don't have enough for shoes. Each pair of basketball shoes is $77. The team has already had their first game and they WON even though many of the girls couldn't suit up due to a lack of uniforms. Will you join us in helping to raise the rest of the money? These young ladies are very hardworking and despite the set-backs they continue to keep their grades up and their heads held high.
As you know athletics helps to keep kids on the right path, and for these student athletes basketball and team comradery gives them something very positive to be a part of. We are part of a bigger group called Hearts for Hale, made up of moms, community volunteers and faculty to help meet the basic needs of Nathan Hale students. Many of these volunteers make sandwiches, healthy snacks, goodie bags and positive notes for the athletes to let them know there are all kinds of folks rooting for them.
