Going through cancer treatment requires a lot of strength—physical, emotional, and mental. Our dear sister, Shirley Fleming embodies all such qualities. She has been battling breast cancer for the past seven years and has been successful up until this year January when it showed up in the liver. Shirley started a special treatment we all hoped would be promising. However, in June, some complications were created due to a severe decrease in her platelet count.
Only two months following such complications, we noticed significant growth in her abdomen, and immediately flew her out from St. Thomas to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, in hiladelphia, PA—Friday, August 11. While there, the doctors removed excess fluids from her abdomen and mentioned to us that her cancer had progressed into the liver so much so that it stopped the routine functionality of her liver. It was at this point on
Monday, August 14 that the doctor stated that there was nothing more they were able to do to help her.
Our hearts sank. But we did not give up. A friend recommended the Utopia Wellness Center in Tampa, Florida. The very next day we consulted with the doctor at that center. At this point, on Tuesday, he instructed us to bring her to their treatment center promptly—we did. That Wednesday morning, he started her on alternative therapies, since her body was no longer strong enough for traditional treatment. When we left the Cancer Treatment Centers in Philadelphia, Shirley could not even drink water, but by that afternoon she drank more
than 24 fluid ounces of alkaline water.
The recommended treatment is for eight weeks. However, Shirley's treatment could extend longer depending on her physical reaction to these treatments. With the extreme damage to her liver, Shirley's treatment will cost between $5000 and $8000, plus housing, travel, and transportation. All of which are weekly expenses.
We are reaching out to our friends and colleagues to raise $100,000 to cover her treatment cost and expenses for her round-the- clock care. Please help us get Shirley this needed treatment and bring her home—strong and healthy.
